Tile covers are used on buildings that have a perimeter drain*. The tile cover is used to hide the connection of the down pipe to perimeter drainage. It gives the down pipe a nice tidy sleek look.
* A perimeter drain is piping under ground all the way around your building, taking the water away. The water will go to the city storm drains, or a pond, gravel pit etc. A perimeter drain can be a variety of materials. Most commonly used in today’s buildings is PVC, however with the older buildings it can be black Big O, or clay weeping tile.
